Milan is home to the most famous Italian fashion brands and the most important and expensive shops are located in the city center, in the so called “Rectangle of Goldâ€, a fashion district covering the area of via Montenapoleone, via Manzoni, Via della Spiga and Corso Venezia. This is the most elegant shopping area, but also the most overpriced.
However, fashion addicted can also satisfy their shopping hunger in the famous shoe shops in via Torino, in the shopping district in corso Buenos Aires and corso Vercelli, and in the small showrooms in Brera. The shops of international fashion chains such as Mango, Zara and H&M can also be found.
Vintage lovers will be able to buy unique pieces from the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s. The Navigli area offers many second-hand shops, which remain open until late at night in the Summer. Besides, a very famous antiques market is held on the last Sunday of every month, along Naviglio Grande and the adjacent areas. Old style gifts, accessories, jewellery, clothes and shoes can be bought at fair prices.
Other famous markets are those in viale Papiniano (two metro stops from the school) – where quality shoes, clothes and home accessories can be found at a bargain price – and in via San Marco (near Moscova, one of the green line metro stops) where clothes of top-quality brands are sold at discounted prices.
